The Panasonic Lumix TZ1 digital camera is reviewed by Topic Point: ‘[It] is a remarkable camera in one way — it is the first truly compact 10x zoom camera. Normally, cameras with 10x zooms are nowhere near pocket sized. The TZ1, measuring 4.4×2.3×1.6 inches and weighing 8.8 ounces, is surprisingly small. Although it’s not an ultracompact, it’s small enough to fit in large pockets and small enough to fit unobtrusively in your bag on your world travels.’

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 digital camera is favorably reviewed at Imaging Resource: ‘While the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 is an undeniably competent-even exciting-point-and-shoot digicam, we quickly came to appreciate it as something more like a rangefinder. It’s as playful and friendly as any point-and-shoot, but it can also be as serious as any high-end digicam. The Panasonic LX1 is an excellent little camera, and clearly one of the best bargains on the market in light of its resolution, color, and rich feature set. Its wide angle lens and 16:9 aspect ratio will make it an excellent landscape and vacation camera, making your photos feel like stills from a movie. Hikers should take note. With a Leica lens and a solid built, it is a strong value, and a “Dave’s Pick” to be sure. There’s really nothing else quite like it.’

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 is reviewed at Digital Camera Resource and found to be an excellent ultra-zoom camera: ‘The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 takes a very good ultra zoom camera (in the FZ5) and makes it even better. The new features, which include a larger LCD with better low light visibility, a more powerful flash, manual focus, and a new and improved movie mode, make the FZ7 one of the best cameras in its class.
Photo quality was very good for the most part, with noise being the FZ7’s weak spot. The camera took well-exposed pictures, with accurate color and good sharpness. Panasonic has been good at minimizing purple fringing in their recent cameras, and the FZ7 is no exception.’
